Redefining A Fallen Icon Of The Bygone Era The tourists have long deserted this once iconic entertainment island with its 800m long manmade sandy beach. Indeed, the place have been deterioated over a long period with little commercial and retail activities left.  However,  a new group of users have quietly emerged and a new lease of life has gradually taken root –  the local community has returned  to redefine the place.  Nowadays, Odaiba beach has been transformed from a tourist-orientated commercialized development into a layback local hideout. It has become a beach-front retreat for young Tokyo residents to escape the oppressive urban density and crowdedness of the city.
